Consultation has concluded

Councils are required to conduct a review of their representation (generally every 8 years) as determined by the Minister for Local Government. The last time Yankalilla Council conducted a review was in 2008/2009 when the two current Wards (Field and Light) were established.

This review of elector representation commenced in June 2016, and an Options Paper has been prepared that has examined a number of different models relating to electoral composition, specifically in relation to:

· Mayor or Chairperson - whether it is an Elected Mayor (elected at large) or a Chairperson – called Mayor, but voted into office by the Councillors);

· Wards or no Wards

· Ward Boundaries

· Number of Councillors (currently there are nine);

At its meeting held on 16 August 2016, Council resolved to receive the Options Paper and undertake public consultation for a period of 6 weeks, which commenced on Thursday 29th September 2016.
