    The SASRS have in the past accommodated their equipment (tow vehicle, trailer and equipment) in a temporary boat shed at the Wirrina Marina since 2005, but are now required to relocate to another facility.

    Discussions have been held between Council planning & governance staff in relation to the possible relocation. Yankalilla Country Fire Service & State Emergency Service members have met with SASRS and have agreed to support SASRS proposal to seek a lease for a shed to be constructed and co located with their units.

    It is proposed that if SASRS will erect a new shed if their request is successful. The attached plan shows its preferred location and the dimensions and style of the shed. Through the development application process an application would be submitted to the Planning department for approval.

    To secure funding from the SASRS Executive for the project the Wirrina Flotilla have requested up to a 21 year lease as per the act;

    (4) A lease or licence is to be granted for a term not exceeding 21 years and the term of the lease or licence may be extended nut not so that the term extends beyond a total of 21 years.

    (5)A lease or licence may provide for –

    a) the erection or removal of buildings and other structures for the purpose of activities conducted under the lease or licence.

    It would be recommended, if Council were to proceed with the approval of a lease to occupy, that the lease be of similar nature to the memorandum of lease held between the Minister for Emergency Services and the District Council of Yankalilla. This lease is for a period of 21 years with an annual fee of $1.00.
