Yankalilla Area School Bus Zone Extension
Following approval of the project plan by the Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT), the District Council of Yankalilla has commenced works to extend the Yankalilla Area School bus zone along Main South Road.
The upgrade will improve safety and traffic management around the school by providing safer, more efficient entry and exit for school buses.
Council’s Depot Team is coordinating the works, which begin today with the removal and reinstatement of zigzag line marking and the relocation of the 25 km/h school zone signage 32 metres east. All works are being completed in accordance with Australian Standards.
Several years ago, the bus zone was relocated to its current position adjacent to the school oval to allow for new security gates and fencing at its former site. While that improved school safety, it restricted bus movement within the main carpark. The current upgrade will extend the bus parking area along the school boundary to accommodate three buses, providing a safer and more accessible pick-up and drop-off point for students.
This project represents welcome progress in ensuring the school bus zone is fit-for-purpose for current needs.

It is much welcome and not before time I hope there are line makings placed down to ensure it is seen by all members of the public and designated times this zone is operated at would be my suggestion as many other schools have the same
