Consultation has concluded


The District Council of Yankalilla recognises the need to conserve and protect the historically significant Yankalilla Cemetery. This is a major project and community consultation is an important part of the planning process. The project team is commencing consultation to engage and draw on community knowledge and aspirations for the cemetery’s future. We are keen to get your feedback on the concept for upgrading Yankalilla Cemetery.

The goal is to provide council with key community issues and align plans for a common or shared aspiration, including;

· Storm water control

· Landscape design

· Soil management

· Traffic Management

· Services (water & power)

· Amenities

· Conservation and Preservation of sites

· Cemetery Management Plans

· Open space with historical features

· Development (crematorium)

On Wednesday 12 August 2015 a model of the architect’s concept plan will be on show in the foyer of council, 1 Charles Street Yankalilla.

    The consultation on this project has closed after having been on-site from 14 August 2015.

    A total of 40 people visited the site and 17 submissions have been received.

    The results from the consultation will be considered at the 15th March Council meeting. More news will be posted after Council has considered the matter further.
