Have your say on Council's Draft Annual Business Plan & Budget 2026-27

The Draft Annual Business Plan (ABP) & Budget 2026-27 sets out the services, projects and financial decisions proposed for the year ahead. The 2026-27 Plan continues Council’s focus on maintaining essential services, renewing critical infrastructure and strengthening financial sustainability, while responding to ongoing economic pressures and changing community needs.

Along with the Draft ABP & Budget, Council is also inviting feedback on the Draft Long-Term Financial Plan 2026-36 and Draft Asset Management Plan Summary 2026-36. Together, these documents reflect updated priorities, data and financial assumptions, bringing Council’s key long-term planning frameworks into a practical, one-year plan - also guided by the DCY Strategic Community Plan: VISION 2030 - that outlines what we’ll deliver and how it will be funded. This ensures day-to-day decisions stay aligned with Council’s long-term priorities.

The Budget has been developed through a collaborative process, including targeted workshops with Elected Members. It also reflects the outcomes of the recent Rating Review - which, following extensive work and community engagement, introduces a new rating model for the District Council of Yankalilla (see ‘Related Projects’ to learn more). The proposed rate increase has been carefully considered, balancing rising costs with the need to maintain essential services across the district.

Community consultation is an important part of the ABP & Budget process. It’s your opportunity to review the Draft Plans, understand the proposed budget and rating approach and share feedback to help inform Council’s final decisions.

We encourage you to take a few minutes to read the consultation material before submitting your feedback, so you have the full context. This year’s budget has been developed in a challenging economic environment and there are no simple choices. You’re also welcome to attend either of the Drop-In Information Sessions or ask questions and discuss the Plan with Council staff and Elected Members before providing your feedback.

Community consultation concludes Tuesday 19 May 2026

Allocate funding in the 2026–27 Annual Business Plan & Budget for improving the swimming amenity at the Wirrina foreshore, specifically targeting the heavy weed growth, rocky seabed, and lack of safe family‑friendly access.

Thank you for the suggestion to improve swimming amenity at the Wirrina foreshore and rising concerns about weed growth, rocky conditions and family-friendly access to the water.

The Draft Annual Business Plan & Budget 2026-27 has been developed with budget restraint top-of-mind and a strong focus on maintaining existing services, renewing critical infrastructure and prioritising works already identified through Council’s strategic planning processes. There is limited capacity to introduce new capital projects or service initiatives within the coming financial year.

Your suggestion is captured here for the community to read and will be included in the findings presented to Elected Members for consideration.
