Consultation has concluded

After feedback from the community and Council's General Inspectors, Council is proposing amending the following controls:

DOG EXERCISING ON:

  • Rapid Bay
  • Normanville Beach
  • Myponga Beach

HORSE RIDING CONTROLS ON:

  • Morgans Beach

These proposed changes DO NOT amend:

  • the requirement for dogs to ALWAYS be under effective control (whether on a leash or not); and
  • when on a road, within a car park, or on a foreshore reserve dogs are to be on a leash AT ALL TIMES.

    Morgans Beach

    This survey relates to the proposal to allow horses to be ridden on Morgans Beach

    Normanville Beach

    On Normanville Beach, within daylight savings, a “family friendly” zone has been applied where dogs are to be on a leash at all times.

    In our cooler months, there is no such dog on leash control, so Council is considering installing a smaller “family friendly” zoned area (100m either side of the Jetty) which will be in place outside of daylight savings.

    Rapid Bay

    Council is considering amending the dog exercise controls in the cooler months at Rapid Bay.

    Currently, all year round, dogs are to be exercised on a leash between 10am and 6pm and can be exercised off-leash outside those times.

    Council proposes when outside of daylight savings, dogs will be allowed to be exercised off-leash at all times.

    Myponga Beach

    Council is looking to amend the dog exercise controls at Myponga Beach by applying them to the entire beach
