Council's Arts Advisory Group is developing a Community & Public Art Framework to guide how Council plans for and supports community and public art across the district - share your thoughts to help shape what it delivers and how it reflects our people and places.

The Framework aims to align strategic direction and set out the outcomes, principles and a pathway for delivering public art that is considered, inclusive and reflective of our community. The Framework will strengthen Council’s ability to advocate for local arts and culture, recognising its role in supporting wellbeing, celebrating identity and enhancing shared spaces.

Council already has a Public Art Policy that guides how projects are approved and delivered. The Draft Community & Public Art Framework complements this by establishing guiding principles and identifying opportunities and local priorities. While both share common themes, each has a distinct role - avoiding duplication. The Framework guides what we aim to achieve, while the Policy ensures projects are delivered fairly, safely and transparently. It does not commit Council to specific projects or funding, but supports consistent and informed decision-making.

Community engagement is now underway to spark discussion and gather the community's aspirations for the Framework.

This engagement closes Wednesday, 15 April 2026

This is your opportunity to tell us how the Framework can:

  • Set the right direction

  • Support arts projects that reflect our community and its values

  • Support good decision-making

  • Establish a clear, achievable pathway for community and public art

How you can participate:

  • Ask a question here at Your Say Yankalilla

  • Attend the Information Drop-In Session at Yankalilla Library, Thursday 26 March between 1 pm and 3 pm.

  • Complete the survey online here or pick up a hard copy from Council

  • Prefer a conversation? Call Council on (08) 8558 0200 to arrange a time to chat

Your feedback will be considered by the Arts & Cultural Advisory Group and used to refine the Framework before it is presented to Council for endorsement.
